best freeware alternatives to popular apps

If you're anything like me (or the growing majority) switching your frequent-use applications over to open-source has become quite appealing with the recent boom in OS development. The list below contains freeware, open-source, simplistic and almost garuanteed faster running program alternatives to mainstream popular software.

1.
MusikCube (iTunes)

While I love Apple and it's recent global domination with the success of retard-friendly multimedia devices, iTunes annoys the shit out of me. It's bulky, slow, and the obligatory mac skin throws my whole desktop theme off. MusikCube has tons of options for a music organization application; a great (and incredibly accurate) search capability, newest 50 songs, top 50 played and other extensive playlist options.

2. ImgBurn (Nero, etc)

Somtimes you just need to burn or rip a disc to .iso ImgBurn is just that. no bubbly first timer user friendly interface, just the straight juice. It's pretty impressive too, supporting HD-DVD formatting and even blu-ray... as if you own a blu-ray burner!
